The more commonly recognised 'New Era' was established as the New Era Cap Company in Buffalo, New York in 1920 by Ehrhardt Koch as a headwear manufacturer specialist. They are the official manufacturer and marketer of the on-field cap worn by every Major League Baseball team and their minor league affiliates. On top of this, they are now the official on-field cap provider for the National Football League in April 2012. 

The company started life as E. Koch Cap Co. until changing it's name to New Era Cap Co. in 1922. In 1932, New Era designed its first version of a baseball cap and in 1934 they started producing its first professional baseball team's caps. They have came a long way in their time and are now the biggest suppier of Baseball caps in the world.
